Museum first time at the Festival of Lights
The front of the museum comes alive: T. rex Tristan Otto will meet the bank mascot Sparky and together they will discover the museum. Throughout the festival, the front of the museum will be illuminated with an artistically designed video projection and can be admired daily from 18:00 - 24:00 h. The festival is accompanied by special evening openings and events such as a children's festival.
Kids in the Museum - The Berliner Sparkasse Children's Festival for Research and Discovery
The Berliner Sparkasse invites all children and their families to a children's party at the Museum für Naturkunde Berlin. The day has many surprises in store for young and old explorers. Large dinosaur skeletons can be just as impressive as watching microorganisms or water fleas. Dinosaurs can be made and the knowledge tested in a quiz. Smaller fossils from the museum's research collection can be touched and examined. A large radio teddy bear stage welcomes the guests on the forecourt. Admission is free.
Torchlight tours
On this tour through the dark exhibition rooms and research collections, children and adults learn how animals have adapted to nightlife. Please bring torches!

Open Microscopy Center
Visitors can independently observe the microscope and learn about the questions that scientists at a natural history research museum are investigating. They can also bring their own finds and objects with them and examine them.

Live digitisation in the exhibition
The Museum für Naturkunde Berlin digitizes its research collections in order to make them available around the clock worldwide. The entire collection of bees, wasps and ants is currently being processed and catalogued in the exhibition area, giving visitors a direct insight into the collection work at the Museum für Naturkunde Berlin.

Special exhibition ARTEFAKTE – last chance (until 20.10.)
It is an exhibition that also concerns and occupies the young generation: How do we deal with nature's resources in a sustainable way? What can each individual do? The New York-based artist J Henry Fair photographs hard-to-reach industrial areas, toxic waste deposits and coal-mining areas from a bird's eye view and documents the sometimes catastrophic effects of human activity on nature through large-format, aesthetically highly sophisticated images. Together with scientists from the Joint Research Center of the European Commission, the exhibition ARTEFAKTE shows the challenges behind the pictures, how complex some problems are, and that sometimes there is no easy or quick solution. Food, energy, climate, air and water: ARTEFAKTE aims to encourage reflection, but also action - and children can also take part.

Humboldt Intervention in the Historic Mineral Hall
In 1858, Alexander von Humboldt wrote: "Thus, the materially collected and geographically ordered almost alone remains a long-lasting value.” More than 1100 objects, primarily minerals and rocks, came to the museum through the researcher. These are objects that he collected on his travels or received through his global network. To celebrate his 250th birthday, the Museum für Naturkunde Berlin published an extensive, richly illustrated work presenting these minerals and rocks. Accompanying this, a "Humboldt Intervention" in the historic Mineral Hall shows selected original objects.
